Description

Unleashing Creative Freedom is a two-day course that focuses on exploring and experimenting with working on paper in all its forms, from automatic and expressive drawing, to mark making and building collage papers that utitlize alternative papers we will explore what’s possible and have fun in the process!

The final project is to complete a small series of small expressive works on paper.

Two day instruction over two Saturdays of 4 hours of class time will allow for play, experimentation, exploration.

We will talk about the automatic and intuitive process. Get comfortable with opening up the body and thinking and feeling into our emotional states and make many experiments and explorations along the way.

If you are looking to loosen up, break free from things that may be holding you back, uncover more of who you are and think about the process in a more intuitive way, this class is a great start to get you moving towards creating more freedom in your art practice.

Instruction is for any level, as this two day experential and exploratory workshop builds slowly over time giving you a foundation and understanding of my process of creating layered and colorful works on paper.

*Materials Are Included in Registration Cost - yet you are encouraged to bring any papers, or your favorite supplies that you would want to use, if you know you LOVE working with something specifically.

Artist Bio

Natalie Dadamio is a fervent mixed media abstract expressionist, whose artistic journey has been nothing of the ordinary. With a Bachelors degree, in experimental film from Binghamton University as well as a heightened love for all things odd, eccentric and experimental, Natalie now draws on her past history and experiences and expertise into creating colorful, raw and expressive mixed media artworks.

Her artistic exploration thrives on intuition and automatic painting, by navigating the realms of abstract expressionism with a fearless and daring devotion to unveiling the unseen and embracing the unconventional.

Her work is an enchanting amalgamation of vibrant colors, intricate textures, and ethereal forms, inviting viewers into a world where the esoteric meets the everyday.

She is the recipient of two noteworthy residencies, including one at AIR Studios in Santa Fe, New Mexico, operated by the Jen Tough Gallery, in July 2023. Additionally, Natalie has been honored with a month-long artist residency from the Broome County Arts Council scheduled for July 2024.

An active member of the Broome County Arts Council and a member of the Cooperative Gallery 213, Natalie channels her passion for art not only into her personal creations but also into fostering a vibrant and inclusive artistic community. Her participation in these organizations reflects her belief in the power of collaboration, sharing knowledge, and uplifting fellow artists.

Additionally, Natalie extends her passion for art beyond her personal practice. She’s embraced teaching art and coaching as avenues to guide individuals through their personal struggles. With a deep belief and inner knowing of the therapeutic power of artistic expression, Natalie helps others navigate their emotions and challenges through creative exploration.

As an art instructor, Natalie brings her expertise and empathetic approach to empower aspiring artists, encouraging them to discover their unique creative voices. Her coaching endeavors focus not only on technical skills but also on fostering confidence and resilience through art, aiding individuals in overcoming personal obstacles.

Through her teaching and coaching efforts, Natalie seeks to create a nurturing space where individuals can harness the healing potential of art, using creativity as a tool for self-discovery and personal growth.
