We'll be discussing 'Creative Citizenship', a concept that combines creativity with civic engagement.
Artist Yen Ospina will be sharing her journey of building community through art, activism and event planning. She will discuss the creation of the nomadic Orozco Gallery, a pop-up, moveable space that challenges traditional gallery norms and opens up new possibilities for artists and communities. Attendees will get a glimpse into the power of celebrating culture and fostering collaboration among creatives.
Yen Ospina is a Colombian-American, self-taught multidisciplinary artist whose work spans traditional and digital mediums. Inspired by folklore, etching, and lithographs, Yen’s vibrant digital pieces tell stories that reflect her heritage through saturated earth tones. In contrast, her traditional abstract works explore deeper emotional expression. A muralist with over seven completed murals in the Ithaca area, Yen also curates BIPOC exhibitions through her nomadic Orozco Gallery Ithaca and uplifts the Hispanic/Latine community by creating events as the president of the Latino Civic Association.
